A very short review of Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, which I'm sure fascinates all (five!) of you:
Diego Luna is amazing. By which I mean, of course, hot. He's all sideburns and sweaty hair and cocky grins.
The female lead, in a word, sucked. She sounded like a British girl trying to sound American, and was basically really annoying. But hey, she filled out all those sundresses like a pro.
The Patrick Swayze cameo really almost made up for it though. He's a dance teacher, and she goes in to ask him something about dancing, and the shot opens with him in the room, just, you know, practicing before she interrupts him. By himself. Cause like he'd be doing anything but dancing. Golden.
The dancing was great, and pretty hot, but - I have to say - not as dirty as in the original. I mean, there's some definite groping, but it's nothing on par with Johnny and Baby. Also, since when was hip-hop invented in 1950s Cuba?
"Not dirty enough," is probably a fair assessment of the movie as a whole. They really PG13-ed it down. Which is fair, since the movie is really supposed to appeal to 13-year-olds.
There was a lot of dancing though - the ratio of dance scenes/montages to non-dance scenes was probably 1:1.
Was it a bad movie? Totally.
Money well spent? Did I mention Diego Luna?
