Around 10, I was struck by the paralyzing fear that no one would come to my party and I'd be sitting in Gabby's all alone, so I nervously called up my friend M, who I knew was going early to make her go with me. She needed a few minutes to finish making my card (so sweet!), which I uncharacteristically spent primping. (I'd slept through the early evening and already been tipsy and sobered up twice in the last 24 hours, and a girl wants to look good on her birthday.) I was less than pleased with the results, but I didn't look terrible, so whatever.
As M. and I were walking to the pub, M. said, out of nowhere. "Your hair looks really great, B. It's all shiny." (She calls me B sometimes. Like Faith, with Buffy, only I don't think she'll turn evil and I'll have to stab her and put her in a coma.)
Then we went to the bar. Jaya and Mike and Mojo were already there. Jaya had presents even. (Thanks, Jaya!) And then, you know, people did show up. Not everyone I hoped would come came, but you can't win 'em all, I guess.
Still, relatively aweoms birthday.
Non-Birthday Related Addenda: I saw a commerical for an adult ADD drug, and as they were listing the symptoms, I seriously pondered the possibility that I am a sufferer of adult ADD (but not ADHD, its hyperactive cousin). Then they listed the side effects, which included menstrual cramps and sexual side effects, and I thought, forget that..
Also, I woke up this afternoon to a beautiful blue, blue sky. It might be real spring this time, not fake spring like a month and a half ago. (Touch wood).
